Kamikawa Maru

History

Five cargo liners built 1936-1940 for the Kawasaki Kisen line, four of which were converted into Navy seaplane tenders. The fifth sister, Hirokawa Maru, was instead requisitioned by the Army and never converted into a naval seaplane tender (sunk 15 October 1942 off Tassafaronga, Guadalcanal) - not listed in the table below for that reason.
