Type D Escort Ship

History

Type D escort ship (丁型海防艦, kaibōkan) - identical design to the Type C class, but turbine-powered instead of diesel (the Navy’s only turbine-powered kaibōkan class). See Type C for the shared background (odd hull numbers = Type C, even = Type D; of roughly 300 planned units, 56 were completed).
