Sokuten (1938)
History
A 1938 minelayer, a follow-on design replacing the worn-out, same-named older 1913 auxiliary minelayers (not covered separately on this site). The year suffix in the title distinguishes these two entirely unrelated classes. There were three sub-batches: the core Sokuten type (H11, 5 ships, listed here), the slightly larger Hirashima type (H11B, 9 ships), and the Ajiro type (H13, 1 ship) - the latter two are not detailed here.
