W-13

History

Minesweepers (掃海艇), identified only by hull number rather than individual names, built 1931-36 under the Maru-1 Programme. Two sub-batches: the No.13 type (No. 13-16, Project I3A, clipper bow, reciprocating engines) and the improved No.17 batch (No. 17-18, double-curvature bow, Kampon geared turbines). Roughly 525-533 tons. Of six boats, five were lost.
