History
Fleet minesweepers (掃海艇), identified only by hull number rather than individual names, built 1922-29 under the Eight-Eight Fleet Plan. Two sub-batches: the No.1 type (W-1 to W-4, Project I1) and the improved No.5 batch (W-5, W-6, tripod foremast, slightly larger). Roughly 600 tons, 20 knots, two 120mm guns. Of six boats, five were lost; only W-4 survived the war.
