History

Standardized submarine chasers (駆潜艇), identified only by hull number (CH-#) rather than individual names, built to counter the growing Soviet Pacific submarine fleet. 46 units total across four building programmes (including 15 boats No. 180-194, 31 boats No. 221-458); of the completed boats, 35 were lost. A complete roster of every hull number is not maintained here; some well-documented examples:
