Fushimi (1939)

History

The Navy’s last river gunboats, built 1939/40 by Fujinagata. The year suffix in the title is needed because an earlier, unrelated Fushimi class (1906, built by Yarrow/Thornycroft for China service, struck 1935) happened to carry the exact same two ship names (Fushimi and Sumida).

Sumida隅田Survived the war, ceded to the Republic of China, later captured by Communist forces, scrapped in the 1960s.
